Mardi Gras on the Gulf Coast

mardi gras mask

Our first Mardi Gras Parade starts this Saturday in Dauphin Island, Krewe de la Dauphine. At 1:00 o’clock the fun starts and you can catch beads, moon pies, candy and more beads!

Did you know Mobile is known as the first Mardi Gras celebration which started in 1703 by the French. The Mardi Gras (French for ‘Fat Tuesday’) Holiday celebration ends on Fat Tuesday, February 28, 2017 this year.

On Mardi Gras Day, Fat Tuesday, many of the stores and banks are closed so we can all go and enjoy the spectacular floats and listen to great music along the parade routes while catching colorful beads, candy, toys and my favorite…moon pies. View the link for additional information on Mardi Gras parades.  Stay safe and have a great time out there.
